UDICO Holdings: instructions
General Information
The demonstration website contains a preferred embodiment to implement virtually all of the claims presented in the patent portfolio. There are two ways of using the site: anonymously or as a subscriber. Anonymous users can only view existing and previously stored public searches as well as perform refine (search within a search) operations. When you're ready, you can continue to read these instructions and open a new window with the demonstration website by clicking here.
Anonymous Usage
Get into the main part of the website by clicking where indicated. Look for and click on "Business" and then "Information Technology/cellphone trends". Then, click on "Smartphone"
OK, now let's examine what we have. First, notice in the center of the page is a list of documents and two abstract types for each document. The first abstract in each case is called a "synopsis" abstract because it's an approximate summary of the document contents. The second abstract is called a "context" abstract because all the sentences in the document that contain the original query term, "smartphone," are shown in the original context of each document. The next thing to notice is the collection of index entries on the right side. Every entry is a phrase that contains the word, "smartphone." Examining this list prompts a user into noticing all the concepts expressed in the documents regarding smartphone! We call this the "Content Discovery Principle™"
Next, go to the entry box at the top and enter "outlook" without the quotes and click on the Refine button. After about 20 seconds, a new document list appears along with the same synopsis abstract for each document but a different context abstract featuring the word "outlook" and a new subset of index entries each one of which contains the word "outlook." And, for the first time, on the left side of the screen we can see that an advertiser purchased the word outlook and inserted some target text and a hyperlink. OK, that's the demo; feel free to browse and remember to click on "Home" to retrace your steps.
Subscriber Usage
Go to the demo website as described above. Login with your user name and password. Pick a category under which you would like to search and enter the search term in the entry box and hit Enter. The initial response is always empty!!! You must then click on Contents to refresh! After examining results for at least 5 seconds, click on Contents again. Now, browse the results as described above and you're on your way.
