Seymour Rubinstein
Known for his early perception of the potential impact of the microcomputer and for his innovation and introduction of commercial grade word processing, i.e.,WordStar, Seymour Rubinstein is a recognized software pioneer since 1979. In addition to being the principle inventor behind the UDICO Holdings patent portfolio, he has held several directorships in publically held companies including Intertrust Technologies and IMSI. In a previous venture known as Surpass, he developed a competitive spreadsheet program that, after it was sold to Borland International, became known as QuattroPro. Mr. Rubinstein built his company, MicroPro International Corporation, from ground zero, with no outside capital, into a company of more than 750 employess and over $72-million in about six years. WordStar became a world standard for word processing being translated into 42 different languages and fundamentally changed the perception of the potential capabilities of the personal computer. Allan McLennan
Focused on the cross-hairs of technology, advertising and entertainment for over 19 years, Mr. McLennan is a recognized management, digital media technology and marketing executive in the broadband, media on-demand, mobile/wireless, television and interactive entertainment sectors worldwide; working in the cross-media platform advancements; IPTV/iTV; E/IPG; mobile media distribution, interactive advertising; media intelligence; social networking; video over the internet; DVR hardware/software and M/VOD content and distribution companies around the world in France, Germany, Latin America, Asia and the US.
McLennan currently completed the duties as President of Advanced Media and Information Division for Rentrak Corporation, a publicly traded and leading intelligence provider of media usage in VOD, digital media, and entertainment (box-office/rental/retail) managing five lines of business and working with the entire entertainment and media food chain. Prior to Rentrak, McLennan founded the PADEM Group (Puremac Advanced Digital Entertainment Media) in 1994 where he performed strategic product innovation, development and corporate turn around duties worldwide with multiple digital entertainment and media companies. Additionally, he was BOD assigned during his assignments as: EVP of Lumenati/NetTV (ASTB/residential gateway/digital TV’s & DVRs and MyTV MSFT Universal tuner), SVP and co-creator of Media Station, Inc’s; SelectPlay, the first globally deployed broadband Media and Games On-demand service (ATT, Comcast, NTL, @Home, NTT, Disney, Infogrames – 3 million homes/300k plays); founding officer/acting VP Worldwide and EP at World’s Inc. one of the first 3D multi-user virtual commerce environments (Spielberg’s Starbright World and predecessor to SIM’s On-Line). McLennan has additionally worked around the world with companies such as Microsoft, Time-Warner, GREY, Amblin, Tsunami, Universal, Disney and more on projects in the advancement of digital media distribution. Hailing from the advertising industry prior to technology, McLennan worked with some of the world’s most prestigious agencies (Saatchi/TO) and clients (Lexus) as a senior manager and account strategist.
McLennan recently was recognized as one of AFI's (American Film Institute) 2004 & 2005/6 line-producers and mentors for their enhancedTV workshop & Digital Media Lab, working with partners such as COX, SUN, NPTV/FR, NDS & Thompson producing a complete and iTV/PVR/VOD offloading educational offering for PBS's TV41 - Interactive Networked Adult Education program, and in 2006 a MobileTV and VOD off loading to PVR program for PBS, with Sprint developing a complete and deployable product. McLennan’s global contribution continues as one of the co-creators of the annual Interactive Media and Television Awards at MipTV/Milia in Cannes, France.
It has been written that McLennan was a pioneer in advanced media and digital technology as well as instrumental in shaping the growth not only companies he has worked with, but the broadband media on-demand media sector as a whole.
